Kathmandu: The British Council IELTS has introduced a new feature in Nepal known as “One Skill Retake” to simplify the process of retaking the IELTS exam. This facility allows candidates who didn’t achieve their desired results in their first attempt to retest in only one specific section of the IELTS exam, rather than retaking the entire exam.
With the “One Skill Retake,” candidates can choose to retake either the Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking section of the IELTS exam individually. The format and timing of the retake will remain the same as in the regular IELTS exam, but candidates won’t need to retake the other three sections, saving them time and effort.
Andrew McKenzie, the Director of British Council IELTS, explained that this new feature was implemented based on feedback and suggestions from IELTS users. He expressed confidence in the test-takers’ ability to achieve excellent scores with proper preparation and support.
McKenzie further stated, “The ‘One Skill Retake’ option will provide candidates who feel their English proficiency needs improvement with an opportunity to focus on one specific skill. We believe this will enhance fairness and flexibility for our candidates in meeting admission criteria.”
Candidates who opt for the “One Skill Retake” will receive a second test report form, which can be used for migration or study purposes. Depending on their scores, candidates can choose whether to use the old or new report for the retaken section. The “One Skill Retake” can be taken within 60 days of the initial exam.
