50 Districts Affected By The Disaster, 41 People Died

Kathmandu, 25 July,

Kathmandu, 25 July — The monsoon season, which commenced on 31st May, has unleashed a wave of devastation across 50 districts in Nepal. The Ministry of Home Affairs has reported that these disasters, encompassing floods and landslides, have claimed the lives of 41 individuals and left another 31 missing.

According to Joint Secretary Mahadev Panth, the head of the Disaster and Conflict Management Division at the Ministry of Home Affairs, a total of 55 people sustained injuries as a result of the calamities. While the toll on human lives is profound, the impact on property has also been significant. A staggering 130 houses were completely destroyed, with an additional 193 houses suffering partial damage.

Of the 50 afflicted districts, 20 districts have borne the brunt of human losses, with 41 casualties reported in those areas alone. The crisis has intensified in six districts, including Sankhuwasabha, Taplejung, Panchthar, Dolakha, Makwanpur, and Mahottari, where 31 individuals remain unaccounted for.

Eastern Nepal was especially vulnerable to the initial onslaught of the monsoon, with Panchthar, Sankhuwasabha, and Taplejung among the hardest-hit regions due to relentless heavy rainfall. Throughout the monsoon season, the country has been susceptible to floods and landslides, affecting numerous districts. However, a disparity in rainfall distribution persists, with certain areas yet to receive significant precipitation.

As Nepal braces for the continuation of the monsoon season, authorities and local communities remain steadfast in their efforts to mitigate the impacts of these devastating natural disasters.
